Fitness for EMERGENCY USA: day 31

by Jason Bosch on Mar.06, 2010, under Fitness for EMERGENCY USA

I’ve passed the 30 day mark and I have lost a total of 13 pounds. It’s not as much as I was hoping to but I didn’t push myself as hard as I could have and I my eating habits still need a lot of improvement. So far I have been given pledges totaling $105.50 for every pound I lose which means I raised $1371.50 last month for EMERGENCY USA. For those of you who have pledged I’ll be sending an email detailing how to donate. Thank you so much for your support and pledges.

On this day I did 30 minutes on an elliptical machine at the house I’m watching. I also went on a 20 minute hike and with dumb bells I did 3 sets of 20 curls at 25 lbs each arm plus 3 sets of 20 shoulder press at 25 lbs each arm.

Fitness for EMERGENCY USA: day 30

by Jason Bosch on Mar.05, 2010, under Fitness for EMERGENCY USA

Again I didn’t keep track but I know my eating and exercise on this day was probably about 70% to what I’d been doing throughout the past month and what I’ve been doing this  past month is at best 70% of what I could be doing.

One thing about putting yourself out there like I have with this Fitness for EMERGENCY USA thing is you really feel like a supreme douchebag when you’re not doing everything you’ve committed to. Please don’t give up on me.

In this video Brigitte Mars talks about how to make incredibly tasting raw vegan tacos.

Fitness for EMERGENCY USA: day 29

by Jason Bosch on Mar.04, 2010, under Fitness for EMERGENCY USA

Again I don’t have a “Food Log” because I didn’t write it down but I remember eating a Green leaf salad with onion, peppers, cucumber, tomato, carrots, and balsamic vinegar around 1PM and I can’t remember what else. I know it wasn’t anything terrible but I’m definitely not eating enough and regular enough:(

I haven’t been able to get down to the gym in Denver because I’m watching a friends house/dog in the mountains but got another 30 minute mountain hike in and did about 20 minutes of weight lifting.

Here’s a video of Brigitte Mars showing us how to make raw vegan spaghetti.

Fitness for EMERGENCY USA: day 17

by Jason Bosch on Feb.18, 2010, under Blog, Fitness for EMERGENCY USA

Getting fit is far more psychological than it is physical. Some spiritual grounded in concrete flesh.

Today I did 30 minutes on the stationary bike, 30 minutes on the treadmill and 1000 meters on the rowing machine of death.

Fitness for EMERGENCY USA: day 15

by Jason Bosch on Feb.16, 2010, under Blog, Fitness for EMERGENCY USA

It was a busy day for me and I only got to the gym for 30 minutes on the stationary bike. I pedaled hard though and also did 1000 meters on the row machine. At home I did 50 squats and I also pulled took my bike out and rode to some my appointments. I rode for a good 30 minutes on my 1970s Schwinn cruiser.  I’m going to start riding my bike a lot more often. Hopefully the weather will get warmer.

Today at Free Speech TV (where I’m helping with programming) there was a pot luck and someone brought some incredibly appetizing homemade chili rellenos. It took everything in my but I did not have any and stuck mostly with the spinach salad. This is a big deal because I love chili relleno.

2.15.10 FOOD LOG

10:00 AM
bowl of plain granola (Back to Nature brand), with some yogurt, sliced apples and bananas

1:00 PM
Pot Luck: spinach salad, a little pasta salad, some pieces of fruit, a handful of tortilla chips and some guacamole. In all a reasonable sized plate worth of food.

4:30 PM
pasta with marinara sauce and shitake mushrooms

10:00 PM
medium sized burrito with black beans, taco seasoned morning start meal starters (meat substitute), in a Mission “life balance” whole wheat tortilla and topped with some homemade green chili.

Here’s another video from day 4. Chris talks about his experience being in Iraq.

Fitness for EMERGENCY USA: day 11

by Jason Bosch on Feb.14, 2010, under Blog, Fitness for EMERGENCY USA

So I’ve been having problems with my computer, which is why I’m just now posting this blog entry.

On day 11 I met again with Chris at Qi Denver.

Chris took my measurements and sadly I still weighed the same as last week. I do feel a lot better though. I will be pushing myself a lot harder next week.

I tested on the row machine again. This thing kicks my ass.

Chris then had me do some simple squats and my legs were killing me.

Then some more exercises. I could barely keep my balance on some of these. It’s pretty funny to watch but I look forward to when I can do these properly.

After wards Chris and I headed over to Hooked on Colfax coffee shop to talk about my progress and what I need to work on.

Fitness for EMERGENCY USA: day 6

by Jason Bosch on Feb.06, 2010, under Blog, Fitness for EMERGENCY USA

I’m so incredibly grateful for my great fortune. That I met Chris who agreed to work with me on this challenge. That I have so many wonderful people who care about me. That I don’t have to experience the terrible affects of war and poverty. I have everything and yet for years I have felt deep sadness. It is a profoundly unjust world we live in. Those who cause pain to others, both economically and physically, are often rewarded handsomely for it. We are out of balance and I’ve been out of balance. Fitness for EMERGENCY USA is my small way of trying to restore some of that balance.

Here’s another video from day 4. In it Chris and I talk about the pain I’m going through by pushing my body back into shape vs. the pain that the civilian victims of war have to go through.

Today I did another 30 minutes cardio at Qi Denver. I pushed myself a little harder but still introducing my body back into working out.

2.6.10 FOOD LOG

10 AM
3 tangerines

11 AM
a four inch avocado and tomato sandwich with mustard and peppers on artisan bread.

1:30 PM
an apple

7:30 PM
a veggie salad (same as before but I did throw a little feta on it. I know I said no dairy but I’m rethinking my absolute stance on this)
