Fitness for EMERGENCY USA: day 22

I’m not doing all that great. Not with my eating nor with my exercise. I’m doing a hell of a lot more than I was before I started this thing but if I want to see really big changes and raise more money for EMERGENCY USA I’m going to have to ramp it up. Today I did 45 minutes on the bike and 1000 meters on the row machine.

plain granola with yogurt, banana, and berries.

Green leaf salad with onion, peppers, mushroom, cucumber, tomato, celery, carrots, and balsamic vinegar.

Hi Jason,
I have done extensive training in my lifetime. Some tips that I feel would help your progress; Try to eat every 3 hours. The bulk of your intake should either be raw veggies or protein. Your body will then store the protein (as muscle)and burn the carbs (which your body stores as fat) for fuel.this will keep your metabolism going all day and even through the night.Too rapid/large of a drop in caloric intake will send your body into panic/starvation mode, causing it to store every last calorie as fat and burn muscle as fuel. Also, Your recovery time is as important as the time you spend in the gym.Some of the best progress I have seen has come from doing intensive training about every 3-4 days, with brisk 30min-1hr walks daily in between (maybe a beginners Yoga video!?)and of course, always remember to drink LOTS of water!!

When I don’t see results it is because I don’t eat ENOUGH. You have to have enough calories to get the engine revved or it stalls. I food journal every bite and add it up. Also I find drinking 1/2 my weight in ounces of water helps - that doesn’t include my water intake for what I sweat out working out and in yoga.
