Greening the Desert

I am so inspired by what Geoff Lawton shares in this video. He talks about how, using permaculture techniques, they were able restore a salty desert landscape into a lush healthy green area.

I was going to link you to a full video of Geoff Lawton’s Permaculture Food Forest on Google Video, but it seems they took it down. It shows him lecturing on how forests work before taking viewers on a tour of these “food forests” he created with his team using minimal work. “You don’t need a degree in botany,” he says. “Just a patterned eye.”
Imagine if simple people joined together to green up barren and desolate lands. Deserts would even flourish. Communities would sustain themselves using food that they grow locally.
